WHAT IS A HOSTEL?

That's what lots of people ask us when they see our name. Hostels have been popular in Europe for decades, but the concept is still largely unfamiliar in the United States. Wikipedia explains, "Hostels (or youth hostels) provide short-term accommodation to travelers, particularly encouraging outdoor activities and cultural exchange for the young." Other online definitions include "an inexpensive accommodation, typically in dormitory style" and a "simple, temporary accommodation for hikers."

All these definitions apply to the Pacific Crest Pub & Hostel. We are remodeling this early-1900s boarding house into an affordable accommodation for outdoor enthusiasts. It will feature women-only and men-only multibed rooms with bathrooms & showers down the hallway.
